Language:

The local language is spanish. During the workshop, the official language will be English

Argentinian currency

The Argentinian currency is PESO ($). The current exchange rate can be checked here: Exchange. Major international credit cards are accepted at hotels, as well as at most restaurants, shops and car rental agencies. It is easy to exchange U.S dollars with Pesos, either in cash or traveler’s checks mainly at banks and travel agencies.

Electricity

Electricity in Argentina is 220 Volts, frequency is 60 Hz nationwide, and plugs have two round prongs.
Weather
The climate of San Juan is dry and cold in the winter season (from June to September). Heavy clothes are strongly recommended during this season.
Formalities
Every person entering Argentina should be in possession of a valid passport or identity card (for countries who share borders with Argentina: Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay). For residents of some countries a visa is required (Cuba and Surinam). Please contact the nearest Argentinian embassy or consulate nearest to your home for further information. U.S. Citizen entering Argentina are subject to a reciprocity fee pay at their entrance airport.
Shopping
Shops are open during the week, from Monday through Saturday, 09:00 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 21:00. In the malls the shops are open during the week, from Monday to Saturday, 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, most are open on Sunday, 12:00 am 10:00 pm.

 

How to reach San Juan


The Francisco Gabrielli International Airport, located in Mendoza city, is the closest International Airport. If you arrive at this airport take a bus to San Juan city which is only 160 km away (2 hs). When you first get to the airport, before you take the bus to San Juan, make sure you exchange some money in one of the exchange desks, inside or outside the arrival area. Fifty dollars is enough to buy your ticket to San Juan and to pay a taxi from the Bus Station in San Juan to the hotel.
